Steven was an avid musician with a special passion for bluegrass music. He played all different types of instruments for his family and friends and had a hobby of building from scratch and/or restoring old instruments.
Steven also played for the Praise Band at the United Methodist Church in Hopactong, where he was a church member.
He loved bluegrass music so much that he was a dedicated member
of the Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association and routinely attended several bluegrass festivals throughout the northeastern United States each summer to share this love with friends from all over the country.
Before he became disabled in the early 1990s, he worked for the Boonton Building Lumber Materials Company as a truck driver.
While born in Suffern, N.Y., Steven had been a resident of Hopactong, N.J., since 1976, where he lived with his late wife, Daune Sonne, and surviving daughter, Bethanne Sonne.
Steven's pride and joy was his only daughter, Bethanne, who works at Benjamin Moore Paint Company and is scheduled to graduate from Montclair State University in the spring of 2012 with a bachelor of arts in jurisprudence and political science.
Steven is also survived by his older brother, C. David Sonne of Blairstown, N.J.; his two sisters, Nancy Scribner and Mary Louise Caldwell, and a total of 15 nieces and nephews.
He was a blessed man, loved by all who knew him well.
